Ober Gatlinburg during winter
January 21, 2021

The holidays are behind us, spring is still a bit away and winter peacefulness has settled into Gatlinburg and the Smoky Mountains. If you’re looking to enjoy the area during the slower time, February is the perfect month to visit the Smokies. Here are 4 things to consider adding to your itinerary this February!

1. Have Snow Much Fun at Ober Gatlinburg

Tennessee’s only ski resort sits about downtown Gatlinburg and is a spot that you won’t want to miss during your time in the Smokies this February. You can walk from our hotel to the Ober Gatlinburg Aerial Tramway and ride to the top, or drive and park at Ober. Go snow tubing, snowboarding, skiing, ice skating, and enjoy all of the wonderful activities that Ober Gatlinburg offers. Wishing you could enjoy even more snowy days? 2. Take a Winter Hike

Appalachian Trail covered in snow

The greatly loved Great Smoky Mountains National Park is filled with hiking trails, overlooks, historical structures, and more. Taking a winter hike is an excellent way to soak up the peacefulness of the season and enjoy the trails without the crowds. Little River Trail, Albright Grove, Chestnut Top, and Old Settlers Trail are a few examples of trails that are worth exploring in February.

3. Gatlinburg Winter Magic Self-Guided Tour

Guests that missed the Christmas season in the Smokies will enjoy being able to enjoy the beauty and magic of the season around town. Gatlinburg has created a map of the lights so that everyone can take in the displays from their own vehicles and take time for photo ops. You’ll find millions of festive lights throughout Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and Sevierville. The lights remain on display until the end of February.

4. Visit Anakeesta

Anakeesta, one of Gatlinburg’s most loved attractions, is offering the opportunity to enjoy their Enchanted Winter of Lights event until February 21st. Spend the day ziplining, dining at one of their incredible restaurants, shopping, taking in views from AnaVista, taking photos with friends and family, and walking among the treetops. Once you’ve taken in the daytime fun, enjoy a Smoky Mountain sunset and prepare to watch the mountain come to life with the magic of wintertime. Stroll through the lights while sipping on hot chocolate, relax by the fire, and enjoy your time in Gatlinburg, TN.
